"Sunlight is life."
~ Dr. William Meller, board-certified internist
I was riding my bike around our neighborhood lake last night at sunset. All around me were people enjoying the last rays of the sun – a man was fishing by the water’s edge, parents were watching kids on the playground as they were swinging into the end of the day, and I was riding around and around, not quite ready to go home. As August marches on, the sun sets earlier each evening, and last night at the lake, I sensed that each of us in our own way were trying to hold onto summer.
Summer is a time of brilliance. It’s easy to feel vibrant and alive with the long days and the sun’s rays. How do we savor the vitality and energy of summer as we begin to move towards fall?
Optimal health is the essence of vibrance. This time of year is an excellent time to review your MegaFood supplements, and what you might need to add. At the top of my list is vitamin D3. Vitamin D is sometimes referred to as “the Sunshine Vitamin”. At the height of summer, our bodies are able to make vitamin D in our skin (as long as it doesn’t have sunscreen on it) when we are exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D production reaches its peak in the summer and decreases in the fall. At northern latitudes, there is very little vitamin D production in our bodies during the winter months. More and more studies are revealing the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in the United States among both children and adults. Vitamin D is crucial for keeping bones strong and for a healthy immune system.
MegaFood Vitamin D3 is available in 1000 IU or 2000 IU, depending on your individual needs. MegaFood Kids N’ Us Vitamin D3 contains 400 IU per tablet. As with all MegaFood nutrients, the vitamin D3 is a bioavailable whole food nutrient. In addition, all of these formulas have an Immune Health Blend and a Nourishing Whole Food Blend to support overall health. *
Savor summer and your vitality by incorporating a MegaFood Vitamin D-3 formula into your regime!
