The MegaFood Blog

Red is a color of passion and energy.  It is the color of our blood, and one can therefore easily see that it is a color of life.  All food colors in the palette of nature offer something unique and special to the human body, and it is for this reason that MegaFood chooses to include a rainbow of colorful foods in our formulations.  We look to vivacious cranberries to contribute the lively antioxidant phytonutrients that give them their coquettish color.  These precious compounds, which include anthocyanins, are powerful antioxidants that help protect the cells of the body from the damaging effects of free radicals.*

We are extremely fortunate to have developed a mutually beneficial relationship with a local cranberry farming family.  Decas® has been growing cranberries since the 1930’s.  With their strong commitment to sustainability and tremendous knowledge of this ruby colored fruit, they are able to provide us with, not just any cranberry, but the type of fruit that will be of greatest benefit to our product users.  On a recent trip to Decas, Robert Craven (our Mega-CEO) and Amanda Carter (of our Mega-Marketing Department) shot some video that was most enlightening.  Did you know, for example, that the highest concentration of active phytonutrients is found in the skin of the cranberry?  That is why, for MegaFood products, a smaller fruit is desirable.  In other words, a pound of small fruit gives a greater weight of skin than a pound of large fruit!  Bigger is definitely not always better.  Sometimes beauty lies in the little things (quite literally), and it's small details like this that really make MegaFood products a trove of hidden treasures!

If you would like to learn more about Decas and why we love them so much, please don't hesitate to check out their website.
