MegaFood Partners with Organic Valley

MegaFood is very proud to announce it has partnered with Organic Valley as a Farm Fresh Partner to buy organic broccoli, cabbage and carrots to craft our FoodState concentrates!!  Organic Valley is the largest cooperative of organic farmers in the United States, based out of LaFarge, Wisconsin. What began as a group of family farms selling their produce soon expanded into the production and local distribution of vegetables, and dairy products. Today, Organic Valley is the nation's largest, independent cooperative of organic family farmers and one of the largest producers and distributors of organic produce (in season), dairy, soy, and eggs. Organic Valley comprises 1332 farmer-owners located in 32 states and one Canadian province that specialize in sustainable, organic agriculture practices. The cooperative network of over 1,300 family farms that now make up Organic Valley's production base are located throughout the midwest and the continental United States, and range from farms supported by multiple families to small, family owned-and-operated farms.  The mission of Organic Valley is to save family farming culture through organic farming and distribute the highest quality organic food in the nation.

MegaFood’s community outreach mission is to support projects which lead to healthier lifestyles, spread awareness with regard to organic foods and sustainable living and ultimately benefit individuals, communities and our beautiful planet earth.

Creating Opportunities
MegaFood is happy to be working with The PLUS Company (People Learning Useful Skills). This is a local program that creates social, vocational and financial independence opportunities for adults with disabilities. This organization has generated dramatic improvements in the lives of its members by providing education and creating employment opportunities for them also.

We are also proud of our Farm Fresh Partners^™ program which focuses on purchasing fresh, local produce and herbs from organic, sustainable farmers throughout the United States. Buying local and U.S. grown produce and herbs not only assures freshness and nutritional quality but also supports farmers and their families.

Community Gardening
In the spirit of extending ourselves more deeply into the community and supporting those ideals which are closest to the heart of MegaFood, we have committed to providing funds to local community gardens around the United States.

Featured Garden
Gardening the Community Inc. is a youth-centered, community based, urban agriculture program in Springfield, MA. The project uses formerly abandoned city lots on which to cultivate organic fruits and vegetables, while at the same time teaching and practicing agricultural and environmental stewardship and community development. The vision is to help introduce and foster principles of sustainable living through urban agriculture.
