- The Leader in Quality Validation
-
MegaFood has established itself as the Quality Food Nutrient Company. Quality is only a word unless it is
Validated with testing. Validation Documentation™, through established "marker compounds", will
ensure the quality of your MegaFood supplements.
- Validating The Process
-
We can objectively measure the value of supplements and assure they are the highest Quality through analysis of the finished product. The material must pass a test that proves nutrient activity at the tableted or encapsulated stage.
- Measuring The Nutritive Value
-
There exists considerable debate and uncertainty as to the definition of Quality in relationship to supplements. There are many tests that can be performed using HPLC, TLC, IR, NMR and other testing methods to Validate supplements. This testing is expensive; therefore, validation is not routinely performed. MegaFood believes that it is crucial to the future of the Health Food Business to Validate the Quality of our supplements.
- "Marked To A Marker™"
-
What measure Validates the Quality of our raw materials? One approach to establishing the Quality of raw materials is to set minimum levels of Quality through marker compounds for each raw material. This process is known as "Marking To A Marker™". The markers Validate phytonutrient activity; and therefore, the Quality of the raw materials.
- "Marked To A Marker™" Validation
-
Testing reveals that when a Marker Compound is high in a specific raw material, that other phytonutrient compounds in
that material measure high as well. When sulfurophane is at a high level in broccoli, then other important compounds such
as Beta carotene and vitamin C will also measure at high levels.
It's impossible to measure every compound in broccoli to ensure its Quality. Broccoli may contain as many as 20,000 individual compounds. No one knows the exact number or all the components that make up any food; therefore, we must rely on certain identified Marker Compounds as a measure of broccoli's Quality. "Marked To A Marker™" is not perfect, but it is the best current method to Validate the Quality of raw materials.
- Quality Marked™ Whole Foods
-
MegaFood is the first company, and currently the only company, to offer "Quality Marked™" fruits and vegetables in our formulas. Specific marker compounds are used to Validate the Quality of our raw materials. This concept, created a whole new category of supplements, Quality Marked™ Whole Foods. This was the beginning of an important step for MegaFood, requiring Validation Documents™ for the foods used in our formulas.
- Validating Our Supplements
-
MegaFood now includes Quality Marked™ Whole Foods in all its product offerings. The response to Quality Marked™ at the consumer level and our commitment for all supplements to be Validated led to the creation of Validation Documents™ for our raw materials.
- MegaFood's Dedication To Quality
-
Quality is constantly evolving. Dedication to Quality is not measured in the present. Quality to be truly achieved has to be measured against potential.
When searching for the highest Quality, "satisfied" is a word that doesn't come into play. MegaFood will not be satisfied until we Validate the Quality of all our raw materials.
- What are the Marker Compounds for Broccoli?
-
Marker Compounds are characteristic phytochemicals found in a plant. Markers are often chosen to represent the standard for a food. In the case of broccoli, the chosen Marker Compound is the organosulfur sulfurophane. To test the Quality of broccoli raw material, we use sulfurophane as the primary marker. We also know broccoli has high levels of beta carotene and vitamin C, as secondary markers, that Validate the broccoli is of the highest Quality.
