To All My Runners Out There...
Yesterday was a magical day in New Engaland. It was the first 77 degree slightly breezy spring day of the season! It provided me with the motivation to take my routine 3 mile run to the beautiful outdoors. Upon starting my run, I did something a bit out of the ordinary for me. I selected a nice back road loop that I have always wanted to run but hadn't quite made the time. The distance was slightly more than my usual 5K but by how much, I hadn't a clue. Keeping a moderate pace and truly enjoying the peaceful spring day I found myself challenged and encouraged to complete this run. Sure it was tough and I was exhausted but I was determined to complete it without walking even once. Just after 7:00PM and the sun began setting I found myself at the bottom of my driveway, completely exhausted and exhilarated at the same time. After tracking my route I learned that I took my regular ole 3 mile jog to a 5 mile distance with only the will to do so. It is amazing to know what you are able to achieve, so long as you think you can and will yourself to do it. So to all my runners, walkers, hikers and bikers out there, I encourage you to reach outside your routine boundaries and try a route you have yet to travel. I believe you too will be surprised by how much you can accomplish. There is something to be said for mental strength. "If there's a will, there's a way."
