Food-RitualWhy do we at MegaFood make our products in small batches?  Why do we strive to make ours an artisan offering?  Well, we simply believe that the energy with which we prepare our formulas is equally as important as the quality of ingredients that we use.  Mom or dad’s cooking likely leaves you feeling more satisfied than a fast food/fast fix option.  Why?  Probably because it was prepared with love!

Here are some thoughts on how you can prepare food to enhance its ability to keep you buzzing with the energy and feeling of life:

  • Go slow!  Slowing down while you prepare food helps you to be mindful of what you are doing.  This lends a peaceful energy to the meal you are making.
  • Appreciate the food.  We all love to be appreciated and why would food be any different?  Give a nod of gratitude toward the wonderful efforts of nature and to the ‘sacrifice’ the food made so that we can be nourished.  This will help to bring out the best in the meal you are preparing.
  • Acknowledge the vibrant colors that make your meal look beautiful.  The natural pigments that color whole foods not only look good, but they provide a range of protective, health supportive benefits to your body.  And of course, beauty is a healing balm in its own right.
  • Breathe deeply!  As well as the pigments which give color, there are aromatic phyto-chemicals that give foods their distinctive perfumes.  These volatile oils influence your psyche and can make you feel more balanced and alert when you inhale them.
  • Think good thoughts!  On his website, Masaro Emoto suggests doing an experiment with cooked rice.  In short, he tells us to place some cooked rice into two sterile jars.  The only thing different about the jars is the way they are labeled.  One is labeled with the words ‘you fool’, and one with the words ‘thank you’.  If you want to witness for yourself the incredible power of your mind on food, this simple experiment says it all.  I personally can attest to seeing pretty amazing results when my daughter and I did this experiment for her 2nd grade science project.  The ‘you fool’ rice became covered in a nasty smelling mold, while ‘thank you’ was pink and sweet smelling by the end of the experiment.

Let us know the ways that you honor the invisible energy of food.  How do you prepare a meal so that it has an extra special umph of goodness?  We love to share our ideas and are super happy to hear yours too.
