Which Foods We Select & Why
MegaFood carefully selected the whole foods for our FoodState® Concentrates after detailed study and analysis revealed which foods actually have the highest capacity for delivering concentrated amounts of specific key nutrients. For example, carrots are naturally the best foods for delivering carotenoids, while oranges are the preferred fruit for vitamin C. Organic brown rice has proven to be the best choice for vitamin E and blueberries have displayed a natural ability to deliver a powerful dose of antioxidant phenolics. As well as these phytonutrient rich whole foods, we also use broccoli, cabbage, nutritional yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and cranberries.
In addition to the concentrated key nutrients, this colorful bouquet of fruits, vegetables, rice and nutritional yeast, delivers a host of fascinating natural compounds that contribute valuable health enriching properties to each cell of the body. Saccharomyces cerevisiae, for example, has developed a well deserved reputation as being one of the most nourishing super foods available. It has a unique nutritional profile, particularly when it is grown in a medium that is vitamin and mineral enriched to support optimal nutrient capacity. A rich source of complete protein, nutritional yeast provides 18 amino acids. It is, by nature, one of the best natural and vegetarian sources of B vitamins, including B12, as well as containing GTF, the glucose tolerance factor which helps maintain normal blood sugar levels. In addition Saccharomyces cerevisiae delivers other vital nutrients such as macro minerals, trace minerals and powerful antioxidant compounds, including glutathione and beta 1, 3 glucans. We can see from innumerable studies that these compounds have important health benefits. They nourish the immune system, help to maintain normal cholesterol levels, combat levels of pathogenic yeast like Candida albicans, contribute to healthy intestinal balance and support enhanced vitality of every cell in the body.* In responding to our customers needs we have taken great care to avoid the use of foods that are common allergens such as soy, wheat, dairy and gluten.
