This month we sat down with Colin O’Brady, a MegaFoodie moving towards his childhood dream of becoming an Olympic Athlete.
Name: Colin O'Brady
Occupation: Professional Athlete
MegaFoodie Since: 2013
What first drew you to MegaFood?
My Dad is an organic farmer and my Mom worked in the natural foods grocery industry. As you can probably imagine, I put value on fueling my body with high quality whole foods. MegaFood provides the whole food goodness in their supplements without chemical additives. With the combination of healthy diet and MegaFood supplements, I can make sure my body is stocked and ready for competition.
Favorite Place in the World:
As a professional triathlete my work takes me all around the globe. It’s hard to pick just one favorite place. If I had to, I’d say Mallorca, Spain, because the training conditions are ideal and I love the food and culture of Spain. Mallorca provides a balanced environment for my athletic lifestyle. It’s also nice to practice my Spanish with the locals!
Top 3 Essentials on your Packing List:
Moving around the world with a racing bike is cumbersome enough. If the bike counts as an essential, the other two would be my Vitamix, and a pair of pants. It’s a funny thing to fall in love with a kitchen appliance, but truth be told I am having an affair with my blender; I can’t live without it.
Favorite MegaFood product:
MegaFood’s Adrenal Strength was the first product that really opened my eyes. In years past I have gotten really worn down from hard training blocks and my body has struggled to recover. I’ve found with a daily dose of Adrenal Strength my body bounces back quicker, and I wake with more energy that I ever did in the past.
Most Notable Career Highlight?
The Rev3 Half Ironman distance race in Anderson, South Carolina. Conditions were exceptionally hard, and I was proud of my efforts to hang tough and take the victory even when things looked bleak. While not my typical style of race (I focus on olympic distances), I really enjoyed it, and I’d like to do more “long course” racing in the seasons to come. It was an amazing feeling to win this race, certainly a career highlight for me.
Biggest (or strangest) phobia?
I can’t sleep if there are any doors open in my bedroom, from the closet door to the bathroom or main door, they all need to be shut before I can get any shut eye!
Favorite Smoothie Recipe:
Definitely my “Morning Green Smoothie”- a perfect way to start the day.
- 1 medium frozen banana*
- 1 medium Gala, Fuji or Pink Lady apple
- 3 cups -packed- of “Power Greens” (Kale, Spinach, Collard, Chard… whatever mix you prefer)

- 1 scoop MegaFood Daily Turmeric Nutrient Booster Powder (w/provided measurer)

*For freezing, peel a banana before bed, put in a ziploc bag and into the fridge, banana will be frozen by morning in time for your smoothie!
Toss it all in a high-powered blender and Enjoy!
MegaFood is all about the REAL. What does “Real” mean to you, and what makes you Real?
Beyond the competition, travel, and the excitement of life as a professional athlete, it is important to me to be grounded in a greater purpose. The people and cultures I encounter on this journey make this experience REAL. The authentic cuisine and cultural exchange I have experienced during my races across the globe have given me a wider perspective on the world, and the universal human factors that make life special. No matter where you go on the planet everyone values health and happiness. Nurturing my body with real whole foods is no doubt a crucial step towards a happy life. MegaFood supports my life with nutritious supplements that keep me going and exploring. MegaFood makes me feel real.
