Dorothy’s Place, founded by the Franciscan Workers of Junipero Serra, has been serving people in need since 1982. Located California’s Salinas Valley, Dorothy’s Place operates on the principles of love, respect and compassion, with a central mission to provide “essential services and transitional support to people experiencing the injustice of homelessness and extreme poverty.”
This multi-faceted non-profit organization provides many services to those in need. There is a drop-in center to help meet basic health and hygiene needs, as well as a residence program for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. An overnight shelter exists to provide relief and empowerment to single women. There is a program for clothing and food support, as well as healthy prepared meals, like fresh fruits and vegetables, organic salads, and other home-made options. Dorothy’s Kitchen provides approximately 150 hot breakfasts and 200 hot lunches every day of the year, all thanks in part to the generosity of the local agricultural community, including Foxy Organic.
We at MegaFood are avid supporters of the commitment Dorothy’s Place shows to its community. Ensuring access to healthy, fresh food, regardless of economic status is a huge part of the MegaFood mission to cure nutritional poverty once and for all.
A portion of the profit from Balanced B Complex (which just so happens to contain Foxy Organic kale!) will be donated to benefit this program.
